Just out of the shadow of Hollywood, Brett Lake grew up in the sun-baked San Fernando Valley where the only things that mattered to him were the Pacific Ocean and baseball. He went to Emory University to pursue the latter and was named a Divison III College Baseball All-American which is actually not that impressive.
Brett started in politics as a Field Organizer in Florida in 2016, where he learned about hope and loss, mostly loss. He then decided to work on political campaigns for the next eight years.
Brett has filmed, photographed, and edited for seven former presidential candidates, one current president, and one former president. He even miraculously won a Pollie Award for producing the 2020 Presidential TV Ad of the Year which featured Biden barn murals, Build Back Better Crop artwork, Sam Elliott's voice, and CCR's "Fortunate Son." Other awards include the 2021 OBIE award (Silver) for Out-of-Home Advertising and a Shorty Award for Best Use of Spokesperson in a Political TV Ad.
Brett's been to all 50 states, lived in seven states, and currently resides in one District that should be a state. Brett's work history and clients include Barack Obama, Future Forward, U.S. Department of Energy, Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Beto O'Rourke, Elizabeth Warren, Biden for President, Biden-Harris Transition, More Perfect Union, Chris Murphy, 2020 Democratic National Convention, Arizona Democratic Party, iVote, Building Back Together, Presidential Inaugural Committee, Blue Sky Strategy, and others.
Currently, Brett is working on a documentary film project on solar energy and workforce development, and taking on freelance opportunities.
Brett is available for professional videography, photography, video editing, motion graphics, scriptwriting, video/ad producing, creative strategy, and if you'd just like to talk. His work focuses on climate and clean energy, progressive causes, and Democratic admaking, but is open to working for mission-driven companies and organizations as well.
